Dress Code

Good learning situations depend on the best possible behavior and attitude of the student. Students are encouraged to take pride in themselves and to strive to meet public expectations. Students should be neat and clean, thus reflecting favorably on themselves and the school. If clothing is disruptive to the learning situation or if it is embarrassing to others, steps will be taken to deal with the individual student. Students' dress should be neat, clean, and presentable. In addition, the following rules apply to both male and female students:
  1. Shoes must be worn at all times. House shoes are not allowed and shoelaces must be in shoes that require them.
  2. Hats, caps, or other headgear, and sunglasses are not worn to school.
  3. Shorts, tube tops, halters, tank tops, tops with thin (spaghetti) straps, bare or exposed midriffs, backless garments or other dress that is extreme in exposing the body or immodest shall not be worn at school. Pajamas are not allowed.
  4. Skirts and shorts must be near knees in length.
  5. Articles of clothing will not have profanity or indecent illustrations on them and shall not have slogans or pictures that illustrate alcohol or drugs.
  6. No drawstring pants or sweat pants will be allowed. Pregnant students must wear maternity clothes, no drawstring pants or sweats will be allowed.
  7. No sagging or drooping pants will be worn to school nor will slogans or writing of any kind be allowed on the buttocks of pants. Pants must not have any holes in them.
  8. All attire will be worn as intended that is belts fastened not hanging in front, suspenders and other clothes properly arranged.
  9. All male students will have shirt tails tucked in and wear a belt. Male students must wear shirt sleeves.
  10. The wearing of jewelry items is only permissible to the extent that they are worn in a manner that is not likely to distract other students or disrupt the educational process. Visible body piercing, including the wearing of nose rings, eyebrow rings, rings in the tongue or lip is prohibited. Earrings are allowed in the ears only. Tattoos must not be visible.
