Dress Code

Good learning situations depend on the best possible behavior and attitude of the student. Students are encouraged to take pride in themselves and to strive to meet public expectations. Students should be neat and clean, thus reflecting favorably on themselves and the school. If clothing is disruptive to the learning situation or if it is embarrassing to others, steps will be taken to deal with the individual student. Students' dress should be neat, clean, and presentable. In addition, the following rules apply to both male and female students:
  1. Shoes must be worn at all times. House shoes are not allowed and shoelaces must be in shoes that require them.
  2. Hats, caps, or other headgear, and sunglasses are not worn to school.
  3. Shorts, tube tops, halters, tank tops, tops with thin (spaghetti) straps, bare or exposed midriffs, backless garments or other dress that is extreme in exposing the body or immodest shall not be worn at school. Pajamas are not allowed.
  4. Skirts and shorts must be near knees in length.
  5. Articles of clothing will not have profanity or indecent illustrations on them and shall not have slogans or pictures that illustrate alcohol or drugs.
  6. No drawstring pants or sweat pants will be allowed. Pregnant students must wear maternity clothes, no drawstring pants or sweats will be allowed.
  7. No sagging or drooping pants will be worn to school nor will slogans or writing of any kind be allowed on the buttocks of pants. Pants must not have any holes in them.
  8. All attire will be worn as intended that is belts fastened not hanging in front, suspenders and other clothes properly arranged.
  9. All male students will have shirt tails tucked in and wear a belt. Male students must wear shirt sleeves.
  10. The wearing of jewelry items is only permissible to the extent that they are worn in a manner that is not likely to distract other students or disrupt the educational process. Visible body piercing, including the wearing of nose rings, eyebrow rings, rings in the tongue or lip is prohibited. Earrings are allowed in the ears only. Tattoos must not be visible.

Visitors

Any and all visitors must check in through the main office, and violators are subject to prosecution.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

The best eduation comes when parents and teachers work together; therefore, parents are encouraged to call the counselor's office (456-3320) any time to arrange conferences with the student's teachers. Conferences can be held before or after school, or during the teacher's planning period. Appointments should be made at least one day ahead of time.

Test Schedule

For Major Weekly/Chapter/Unit Tests the Following Schedule Will be Used:
  • Tuesday: English, Computer, Art
  • Wednesday: Science, Foods, Business
  • Thursday: Social Studies, Vocational, Driver's Education
  • Friday: Math, Health/PE, Latin, French

Nine Weeks Test adn Examination Schedule

  • 1st Day: 4th & 7th
  • 2nd Day: 3rd & 5th
  • 3rd Day: 2nd & 6th
  • 4th Day: 1st

1st Semester Exams cover the 1st & 2nd nine weeks material.

2nd Semester Exams cover the 3rd & 4th nine weeks material.

Attendance Policy

Good attendance with a minimum of tardiness and absenteeism is essential if students are to gain maximum benefit from the instructional program and attain high academic achievement.

All absences are recorded as excused or unexcused.
Excused absences shall be granted by the principal upon proper documentation for th efollowing reasons:
  1. Attendance of authorized school activity
  2. Illness or injury, which prevents school attendance
  3. Ordered isolation by the health department
  4. Death or serious injury within immediate family
  5. Medical and dentalk appointmnets with a doctor's note verifying the appointment
  6. Attendance in court wherein the child is a party in the action
  7. Observation of a religious event
  8. Educationally significant travel that has prior approval of the principal or his/her designee
  9. Parent excuses will be accepted for 5 days per semester

No faxed Doctor Excuses.

Make-up work is done for excused absences only. Students will receive a grade of "0" for missed work if the absence is unexcused. For excused absences students have 5 days to do make up work, except in the case of extended illnesses. Failure to make up work within the 5 day period will receive a "0" and any work assigned before the absence occurred is due the day the student returns, including tests.

Checking out of School

If a student needs to check out during the day for an appointment, the parent or guardian may notify the school between the hours of 7 AM and 8 AM - 456-3320. The parent or guardian is responsible for giving the secretary, guidance counselor, or principal the name of the student and the time he/she is to be released from school. If students have vehicles at school, they are required to come to the office and sign out before leaving school.

If a parent, guardian, or approved adult is going to pick up the student, he/she is required to come to the office and sign that student out. He/she may be required to show proof of identity if the office deems it necessary.

If a student becomes ill the school nurse will be called and will determine if the student should go home. Parents will be contacted, and the student may leave on his/her own.
